Celebrating 26 years of Excellence

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc is a private
non-profit organization of predominantly Black college educated
women whose purpose is to provide assistance and support
through established programs in local communities throughout
the world. The Hartford Alumnae chapter has been serving
the Greater Hartford area since 1947. The major programs
of the Sorority are based upon the organizations Five Point
Thrust of which Education Development is of high importance.
In 1980, the Hartford Alumnae Chapter held a Guidance Seminar
at Weaver High School. This program was conceived for high
school juniors and seniors preparing for college. The importance
of choosing the right college, selecting college courses,
developing reading, writing skills and paying for college
was stressed during the seminar. The response from the students
was overwhelming and further programming seemed appropriate.
